Dread of Darkness

A game I did for an blueprint assignment at Futuregames. The game is made in Unreal Engine 5 using blueprints and assets from the "Edith Finch" free assets on Unreal store and models from Mixamo.


My vision


  • Make a horror game
  • Have a enemy that stalks the player
  • Inspired by RE2 Remake and Alien Isolation

The Process


  1. Decide what kind of game its gonna be
  2. Make a list on mechanics it requires
  3. Make a priority list of mechanics. What mechanics are essential?
  4. Create mechanics
  5. Test mechanics
  6. Create paper prototype of the levels
  7. Make block out of levels
  8. Import art into levels
  9. Bugtest

What could I have done better?


  • Made customizable controls
  • Create a button for options and controls in the pause menu
  • Edit widgets to better suit the screen
  • Make a close widget for the doors
  • Make longer levels with more story elements
  • Put more effort in making the levels look nice
  • Make own audio assets
